Africa Connect: Micro & Small Industries Summit

Africa stands on the cusp of a new era of economic prosperity, fueled by the dynamism and innovation of its micro and small industries (MSIs). These enterprises form the backbone of many African economies, providing livelihoods, driving local development, and fostering entrepreneurship critical to the continent’s future. The AFRICA CONNECT: MSIs Growth Summit – Tanzania 2026 (AFRICON 2026), scheduled for May 25-27, 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is a landmark event aimed at shaping the future of African enterprise.
Micro and small industries (MSIs) are pivotal to African economies, acting as engines of growth, job creation, and poverty reduction. They provide essential goods and services, generate income for millions, and are the largest employers, particularly in rural areas where formal jobs are scarce. MSIs offer a pathway out of poverty, contributing to improved living standards and reduced inequality.
These enterprises lead innovation, developing creative solutions to local challenges with their flexibility and adaptability. They promote entrepreneurship, fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment. However, MSIs face obstacles such as limited finance, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of skills, which AFRICON 2026 aims to address to unlock their transformative potential.
